Their are two different types of 3D TV- Polarizing system and Active shutter system. If you have been to the cinema to see a 3D movie you would of experienced Polarizing system. The Active shutter system is going to be used with the TV's as it is a better system with the capability to do Full HD 3D. Active 3D Systems will be used by Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and LG. Most of the companies will provide 3D Active Shutter glasses with the TV's, the only exception being Samsung, the other companies will provide you with two pairs of glasses. You will be able to get extra pairs, they will cost around £100.00 a pair. At the moment true 3D content is limited with the only true source for home viewing is 3D Blu-Ray, you will need a 3D Blu-Ray player and a 3D Blu-Ray disc to get the true 3D picture. Sky in the future will be releasing a 3D channel for home viewing with football and sports being the big selling point. However companies like Sony and Samsung have 2D to 3D "converter button", which when pressed convert normal 2D images to 3D.
